Gratitude Friday

Gratitude Friday

Gratitude Friday is a weekly ritual that Nolwenn started in order to focus on all the small and big positive things that happened during her week. She invites us to join her; you’ll see how much being thankful can change your life. If you want to know more about it, read her introduction post.

Another Friday, means another appreciation/gratitude list! I’ve had such a good week, that there is — as usual — much to be appreciative of. I love that!

First of all, I’m very appreciative that my husband as had a good first week at work — And that he’ll be home for the week-end. In fact, he should be home in just a few minutes. I’ve enjoyed my “me time”, but I’m eager to hear all about his week. I’m eager to hug him. I’m eager to just hang out with him.

We got some good news this week! My mother’s house has been for sale since she made her transition, over a year ago. Well, a couple made an offer on it! We made a counter offer and they accepted it. They have ten days to secure financing; closing is scheduled for 30 September. This is kind of a bittersweet item on my list. I’m happy for the house to be sold, so that I can let go of that last tie, and finish moving on. But, I’m also sad to see the house leave our family, as it was my childhood home. My childhood wasn’t easy (but then, whose it?) but I have some of the best memories a girl could ask for. I learned to cook with my mother in that house and I learned to be mechanical with my father. Grand holidays, with 25 pound turkeys to feed all the people. Entertaining boyfriends in the living room. Waiting not-so-patiently for important company to come visit. Just so many memories — most of them good. As I said, this is bittersweet for me.

I had a pleasant conversation with my brother this week. We aren’t the closest two siblings in the world, so I was very grateful for the nice chat.

I am especially appreciative of my new friend, Shirley Ann. She is a fellow student in Kelly Rae Roberts’ class, Flying Lessons . Shirley Ann lives near me, so I drove over and spent the afternoon with her. She is beautiful, gracious, warm, and talented. I adore her! I’ll post tomorrow with a couple of pictures and more details about our meeting.

I reconnected with an old and dear friend, Kristy. We just exchanged a few text messages, but I was so appreciative that she thought of me. Hopefully, we’ll manage to get together soon for lunch and chatter.

I hear my husband playing around with his guitar while I type this out. I’m so appreciative that he made it home safe and sound, and that he’s able to relax a bit. There’s so much to be thankful for this week. I feel so fortunate that my weeks are full of things to be appreciative of or grateful for. There is much I’d like to change about my life, but I do feel blessed to have so much to give thanks for, too. I truly believe that this practice of being appreciative will help to usher in the life of my dreams.

But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on numerous websites
for about a year and am anxious about switching to another platform.
I have heard fantastic things about blogengine.net.
Is there a way I can transfer all my wordpress posts into it?
